We’ve been attending the HUGGS yearly benefits since we moved to Vancouver. HUGGS CANADA sponsors young people in India who show the potential to continue their studies but whose families do not have the necessary resources. HUGGS is committed to providing the educational and support needs of our students through their education. This year we’re not gonna make it, which is sad because they are having a fundraising concert at The Cultch with Téa Petrovic on the 24th November, so I just wanted to spread the word to everyone who is going to be here, because it sounds like a good time for what I know is a good cause.
Téa is a Vancouver based singer/ pianist/ songwriter who fuses elements of R&B, Soul, and Pop music into her own brand of “City Soul”. Drawing inspiration from diverse artists like Sade, Amy Winehouse, and Remy Shand, Téa has crafted an unmistakable sound that continues to win audiences over.
Born in Belgrade, Serbia, Téa was introduced to the piano at the age of 7. At 12, she started playing the guitar. After moving with her family to Vancouver, BC, she started writing songs at the age of 14, received the Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto (A.R.C.T.) diploma in piano performance at 18, and a B.A. in music from the University of British Columbia at 22. www.teasmusic.com
I finally managed to stop by Occupy Vancouver the other day and even though the weather is terrible and cold, it still feels like a community down there. I haven't been able to spend as much time as I had hoped, but I really love knowing that there is a village in the heart of the city that I live i ...

For anyone who is intereste ...
I've been spending all the time I can lately down Village #Occupy Vancouver. It is so lovely to have a new-old village in the middle of the downtown! I have mostly been listening to people, I have heard complaints about the system from all kinds and I have heard complements about the movement from a ...

Well, as suspected, it turns out Canada's Vancouver branch of the North America Raw-Milk Spy Camp is still plotting against Our Cows cowshare. Check out this comment from Gordon S Watson on the Bovine's latest post about the FDA spying on American raw milk farmers: On Friday August 26th 2011 – ...
Last weekend we headed out to our local community dairy's annual farm picnic (www.ourcows.ca). I was pretty excited as we'd only been out to the farm once before on a cold rainy day, which was fun as well--at the time there were about 7 young calves and a litter of puppies--but it is always nice to ...
I haven't done a post on Ubuntu in ages, which leaves me feeling a bit guilty! My current computer is hobbling along on it's last legs...supposedly I have a new computer on the way, I'm pretty excited to get it as it is made with Ubuntu in mind, and is my first new computer since I got my first comp ...
Little Mikko and Amaia come for a visit and help me pick the diakons from my boulevard garden. According to Masanobu Fukuoka who wrote One Straw Revolution, diakons are a good plant to help you dig up hard, stony soil. I dug up the area outside our apartment this year and decided to try an ex ...
