Vancouver Island is full of beautiful old-growth forests, waterfalls, trails and wildlife. We really enjoyed our quick trip to Ucleulet over Summer Solstice 2011. Loved the Ukeedogs — I had to have soup but it was fantastic too — also loved the beaches, and when we woke up one morning there was a cute pair of deer hanging out by the boats. The big fat bullfrog hiding in the reeds here reminds me of the children's books. Frogs are dying rapidly around the world at the moment, almost half of them are threatened with extinction. They can't handle the pollution in our water ways or the chytrid fungus that is rapidly killing amphibians. ...
