Christmas Jazz Club

I usually don't look forward to the holidays overly much, but this weekend has been so awesome, it's really changed my outlook. We brought our tree home and decorated it Friday evening, did some Christmas crafts and baked brownies. While looking for some music we found an old CD, all of this 1930's jazz/swing type music. She’s on a Mission to Get You to Dance!

“If more people danced everyday, the world would be a much happier place!”

So says Mary on her website thefreebox.wordpress.com and I couldn’t agree more. She has taken it upon herself to perform (and document) a daily dance ritual, and she’s real fun to watch. Her dances are improvised and often playful, you can tell she’s enjoying herself and the energy infectious.

Anniversary Rituals

Although my partner and I are not sure what the exact date of our anniversary is, I recently decided to take a page from my own book and start to create a ritual of celebration for our partnership around a date. We marked one down on the calendar about a month ago and today is the day.

August 26th at least is a date I should be able to remember as it used to be my sister’s birthday. Another interesting comparison–seeing as she was given that date as her birth-date because no one really knew the exact date she was born either. Putting that all aside, it is amazing to stop and think that we have been together for 6 years!
