Banana and Tahini Smoothie

This is a great way to start your day. It is quick, nourishing and delectable. Most importantly is has a lot of easily absorbed calcium and potassium.

Serves 2-3

  • 1 banana, the riper the sweeter
  • 1 T tahini, or you can use freshly ground toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 T almond butter
  • 1 t vanilla essence
  • 1 T honey (or you can use a sweet apple)
  • ½ c herbal iced tea (or water)
  • 1 c yogurt or keffir or both
  • 1 t cinnamon, ground

Method:
Blend ingredients together. It is also nice to add ice at the end to make it into more of a thicker colder smoothie.

Bananas have a lot of potassium and make you feel good. Yogurt or keffir is great for your digestive system. Tahini has tons of easily absorbed calcium as well as antioxidant power. Cinnamon helps your circulatory system and to regulate blood sugar levels. The iced tea can be made with different herbs according to your personal needs in bulk and stored in the fridge.

This was awesome! Although I had to change the peanut butter part with sunbutter as I have issues with peanuts, it was fab and will be making it part of my weekly smoothie recipes.
Thank you so much for this!

      Thanks Charlene!
I don’t even know what sunbutter is! You will have to let me know, but it sounds fabulous. Yeah I haven’t been able to use peanut butter in ages as I have had digestive issues, but I will hve to try it again as my gut is in better condition than it has been in years and perhaps I can handle it again now.

Sunbutter the actual name is kind of like tahini but made from sunflower seeds. Its definately different and you can really taste the sun flower seeds in it but its a good alternative to peanut butter. And tastes awesome in your smoothie recipe!
You can find it at Whole foods.
