Splenda: Made From Sugar?

As we have all learned from having been subject to over thirty years or so of social and scientific experimentation with drug and health fads — there is much more to know about health and nutrition than we really understand. Our scientists keep finding out new things which then seem to contradict what they previously discovered. One year the most healthy thing to eat might be canola oil and the next year butter. We are constantly finding new levels of organization in the interactions of organisms. It has been a confusing few decades and most of us are fed up with the whole thing and annoyed to say the least.

I like the idea that we trust the Earth and the way she packages her products. They don’t need be refined. She knows exactly what she is doing. If we need sweet foods, which we do, stick to raw honey, maple syrup, unrefined palm sugar or something like that.

How many people do you know who have really lost tons of weight switching to sugar-free soda? This is not a good solution to weight issues. Your body is not satiated if it is not receiving the nutrients it needs and eating no-calorie foods will not help.

It is also interesting how much money is involved in this sweetly sugar-free industry. Perhaps if we can get these big businesses fighting amongst themselves over our money we might actually be able to hit them where it counts.

According to market research firm IRI, as reported in the Wall Street Journal, Splenda sold $212 million in 2006 in the US while Equal sold $48.7 million.

We sure are shelling out a lot of money to be poisoned, and our tax-supported organizations who are meant to keep this from happening are in bed with these big-money groups.

The FDA denied approval of aspartame for 16 years, then caved in to political/economic pressure when Don Rumsfeld, CEO of the manufacturer, was brought to Washington by Ronald Reagan. A new FDA Commissioner was appointed to approve it — then became a consultant for NutraSweet’s public relations firm for $1,000/day on a 10 year contract. Now people are calling the illness this nerve-toxin causes Rumsfeld Disease. One might expect FDA to be more cautious the next time and to take it off the market, yet they approved the toxic chlorocarbon Splenda without hesitation and without any long term testing on human subjects.

At the very least pregnant and nursing women should stay as far away from these products as possible as it is an abortifacient and can cause sterility as well, and it is best to keep your kids away from them as well. Please have a look at the below quotes and links, most of them are referring more specifically to Splenda which is closely related to DDT.

I also highly recommend reading some of Dr. Bowen’s articles. Dr. Bowen spent 20 years researching artificial sweeteners after his use of aspartame resulted in being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease. Dr Bowen’s intention is to warn the world of the toxicity of tabletop poisons like aspartame, Splenda and Neotame.

In test animals Splenda produced swollen livers, as do all chlorocarbon poisons, and also calcified the kidneys of test animals in toxicity studies. The brain and nervous system are highly subject to metabolic toxicities and solvency damages by these chemicals. Their high solvency attacks the human nervous system and many other body systems including genetics and the immune function. Thus, chlorocarbon poisoning can cause cancer, birth defects, and immune system destruction. These are well known effects of Dioxin and PCBs which are known deadly chlorocarbons.”

What you need to know about sucralose is that it is of a class of compounds which places it amongst some of the most dangerous chemicals on earth (eg DDT). The known studies, and science verify this fact. Lies and dissimulations, which have been totally, and inexcusably left unchecked by the FDA, point to gross governmental/corporate corruption, and massive cover up and peril. They say “Oh, It’s just made from sugar, what could be more natural and harmless.”

New chemical sweeteners (like Splenda) and the sweetener blends (aspartame, sucralose and acesulfame K blended together in one product) may be causing users to show signs of weight gain, disruption of sleep patterns, sexual dysfunction, increases in cancer, MS, Lupus, diabetes, and a list of epidemic degenerative diseases. The corporations continue to stand tough in their denial of any connection to chemical sweetener additives.

Splenda Exposed by Dr. Hull

The manufacturer’s own short-term studies showed that sucralose caused shrunken thymus glands and enlarged livers and kidneys in rodents. But in this case, the FDA decided that because these studies weren’t based on human test animals, they were not conclusive.

And now, are our children the next trial group? Thanks to an agreement between McNeil Nutritionals (makers of Splenda) and PTO Today, which provides marketing and fund-raising aid to parents associations, your elementary school’s next bake sale may be sponsored by Splenda complete with baked goods made with the product.
