New Westminster November 2nd rally for food freedom. Meeru Dhalwala of www.vijs.ca reminds us all how silly this situation is. Canada is one of the most democratic countries in the world and yet won’t let us make a choice about how we drink our milk.

Cultures around the world value the sacred nature of farm fresh raw milk. We can smoke, we can eat all kinds of high fructose corn syrup, we can use cellphones, we can play full contact sports, but we can’t drink a glass of milk. How silly.

I really appreciate her description of how people in the city remember the village fresh milk from the happy, healthy cows there. Access to unrefined natural ingredients is a given in most countries and in our own traditional foodways.
