This is mostly a reposting of the information about kefir put together over at www.bovinity.webs.com. A wonderful and well-researched look into how kefir can help with cancer, herpes, IBS, immune disfunction, allergies, colitis and leaky gut among many other things. If anyone in Vancouver BC would like some kefir grains please let me know as I have plenty. Alternate names for milk-based Kefir Grains (also called kefir gems or jewels): Tibetan Mushrooms, Yogurt Plant, Yogurt Mushroom, Yogurt Fungus, Snow Lotus, Kin-oko or Tane-oko [Jap], Tibetanischer Pilz [German]

Kefir is one of the oldest cultured milks, having its origin in the Caucasian Mountains. With a bubbly effervescence and no bitter after taste, Kefir has been called the “champagne of milk”. Kefir is a fermented milk which contains a mixture of several species of lactic cultures. Yogourmet Kefir starter is prepared from selected strains of active Kefir cultures and Kefir grains, so it produces a rich, creamy, alcohol free drink every time. It is a refreshing, nutritious, and therapeutic dairy treat for all ages. Kefir does not require the use of a yogurt maker, since the milk is incubated at room temperature for about 18-24 hours. See this quick video on making kefir.

I am about to make another batch of this delicious mustard. I was surprised to find that I haven't posted this recipe yet as it is one of my favorites. As we all know the supplement industry is run by greed and money almost to the same degree as the pharmaceutical industry (if that's possible). I personally believe that we can get everything we need from our food, but at times we may not be able to afford to buy all organic or from farmers markets, ...

I stumbled across this really practical and well done video on how to make water kefir. Although I have been reading about kefir for years, I hadn't had an opportunity to make it myself until this year when my sister brought some up to me from a friend who had given her some. This stuff is fantastic ...
