I am reposting this summary of Bruce Fife's article on the health benefits of coconut water here because we have had to take them down from the Cocospure website since the FDA is getting even more crazy than it previously was, they don't even allow you to say that coconut water is hydrating, in fact they are currently copying the EU and won't even allow you to say water is hydrating! Although they are happy to allow pharmaceutical companies to blast their ads for their pills at you from every angle possible. Truly sickening. On a side note, I will say that the best way to get your coconut water is fresh from a tree in the tropics. If you can't I have found that coconut water makes a great probiotic and making pasteurized coconut water into coconut kefir is a great way to be sure you get the best from your coconut water.
Bruce Fife, N.D. is the leading expert on the healing powers of coconuts. He currently runs the Coconut Research Center and is the author of 18 books including Coconut Water for Health and Healing, The Coconut Oil Miracle, Coconut Lover's Cookbook and Health Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation.
The following is a summary of his article on coconut water

Many of the health benefits of coconut water are traced to its mineral content. Coconut water contains:
Magnesium, calcium, potassium (more than bananas), zinc, selenium, iodine, sulphur, manganese, boron, molybdenum and other trace elements, it is also low in sodium.
As anyone who has spent a minute in the tropics knows, coconut water is the best thing for dehydration. It is used extensively to treat cholera, dysentry, influenza and other diseases that promote dehydration. Coconut water has saved thousands of lives, especially children in underdeveloped countries. Ordinary water is often contaminated in such areas, while a fresh, unopened young coconut is sterile. Coconut water also contains all the necessary factors for rehydrating a severely dehydrated body. Use of coconut water increases survival rates from cholera to 97%.
Coconut water also clears up bladder infections, removes kidney stones and improves sexual vitality.
In Jamaica, coconut water is used as a heart tonic and to improve circulation. The high levels of potassium and magnesium help to reduce blood pressure. It also improves blood flow and reduces plaque formation. Coconut water contains amino acids and fibre that help moderate sugar absorption and improve insulin sensitivity, making it also useful for diabetics.
Coconuts also contain the plant growth hormones cytokinins, which regulate growth, development and ageing and are similar to the human hormones cytokines. Cytokinins are also known as anti-ageing hormones, as they slow down the normal sequence of ageing. Individual cells have been found to be more healthy and youthful as they age. Cytokinins are also used in facial creams and lotions as they have been found to be effective for wrinkles and good for collagen. Since cytokinins also regulate cell growth and division, and help prevent mistakes that may lead to development of cancer, they are also useful as a cancer preventative. Coconut water is the richest natural dietary source of cytokinins.
In Hawaii, women are encouraged to drink it when pregnant and nursing so their milk will provide all the nutrients necessary for a healthy baby. The first food an infant receives as it begins weaning is coconut water and coconut jelly.
