HD 201 – The Smoker DIY
A quick and easy way to make a smoker on the fly. Indoctrinex drills, whittles and organizes wood-chips, a garbage can and a hotplate….Spice is rubbed into legs of turkey and lamb-the smoker gets busy as hungry fans observe.
By the way, for everyone watching this. Since this video various issues with this method have been pointed out to me. One of these being that we should have given the can a good wash at the very least before using it! Uggh.
Anyway another method for making a really cool smoker has just been pointed out to me and can be found on my favorite DIY site instructables.com.
How to make a smoker from flowerpots! Cute and easy. I haven’t tried it yet, but if I do, I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks to Humphrey King for this one!

HD 203 – Maple Rose Kefir
Maple syrup and rosewater add a new dimension to kefir, which is a very affordable, easy, practical and tasty method to ensure you get your daily dose of probiotics to keep your intestinal garden (and as a result your immune system and practically everything else including emotions) in prime condition. I recently have been reading a book about the Abkhasians who live in the Caucasus and easily live to be 120 or more. Most of them didn’t marry and have children until their 40s or even 50s! They had an all around healthy lifestyle, which included matzoni, which is also a fermented dairy product.

HD 202 – Guerrilla Garden I
I first broke ground in Vancouver BC, on June 7th, 2009. For me this was a very symbolic act. This was the day I finally got the stamp in my passport that said I was an official resident of Canada. Living in an apartment I didn’t have a piece of ground of my own, but I had been scouting out the nearby possibilities for about a year and a half while waiting for my residency to come through.

HD 108 – Potato and Wild Herbs Salad
Potato salad is extra tasty when the potatoes are homegrown. In fact, commercially grown potatoes are full of chemicals and best to avoid. It also feels wonderful to dig your fingers into the earth and pull out a potato. This is a malleable, open-source recipe, do as you will.

HD 107 – Salmon Spring Rolls
Inspired by the Vietnamese cha gio, these colorful, crispy spring rolls are best wrapped in a crunchy leaf of lettuce with an addition of a fresh aromatic herb, dipped in the delicious sauce and munched on in the company of your favorite people.
These spring rolls are a great community event, especially if you are serving a large group, everyone joins in wrapping up the stuffing in rice paper and the spring rolls are eaten as fast as they are made. Recipe

HD 106 – Homemade Yogurt
Demonstrating how easy it is to make healthy, live-cultured yogurt from fresh raw goat’s milk.
This slow heat method ensures as many enzymes and cultures as possible will be available for intestinal health.
Also shows three methods of incubation. The towel method has the best track record, and the cooler is a real pain. For maximum probiotic development in your homemade yogurt, keep it incubating for at least 24 hours.

Step back in time and experience the sweet goodness of maple syrup. In this old-fashioned sugar house, sap collected from surrounding maple trees is reduced to rich syrup in an wood-fired evaporator.
